European Soccer 2021/22 Picks and Predictions Week Ending Feb 6
Prospector Sam is here with your free soccer picks for this weekend's European soccer action.
Today’s intro is an ode to Belgium. Yes, you read that right, Belgium. For most of recent history, the small coastal country has been a bit of a welcome mat for the continent. Belgium has some current significance because it houses the EU in Brussels, but in the last couple of centuries the Belgians have been repeatedly conquered as more powerful countries lay waste while fighting it out for territory. I highly recommend visiting the Belgian War Museum if you ever make it there, because it’s an incredible monument to all of the other armies who fought in Belgium and left items behind rather than the actions of Belgium itself.
But, while Belgium may not be high on the list of world powers in terms of war, they did everyone a service by ignoring the international break and plowing onward with games while no other league was playing. Instead of having to pretend to care about Asian WC qualifiers or whatever the hell is going on at AFCON (bad things, all bad things), we got some decent club matches to enjoy for a week, and it was a welcome decision. So thank you, Belgium; you deserve our appreciation even though the clock is probably running low on you guys getting invaded again.

Free Bundesliga Picks For Week 21, 2021-22
Stuttgart vs. Frankfurt, Sat Feb 5, 9:30am (ET)
Frankfurt are, at times, endlessly frustrating to figure out. There are weeks where they look great, then weeks where you wonder how the hell they’ve managed to stay in the middle of the table (see: 2-0 loss to Bielefeld). Basically, they’re a lot like frankfurters/hot dogs in the sense that they’re a mess internally and it’s better off not thinking about it (yes, I built up multiple sentences to make that garbage word play analogy and I have zero regrets). But, while there is some risk to believing in them, I think this is a solid opportunity to do just that. Coming off an international break where they’ll have gotten some rest, Frankfurt have a chance to pick up points against a Stuttgart side that concede almost 2 per match, and I expect they find the back of the net. Do I trust them fully to win? Not really. Frankfurt’s defense is suspect and they’re liable to give up a bad goal or two on any given night. That’s why, after serious consideration, we’re taking Frankfurt Team Total over 1.5 at +114. Against a team in the relegation zone the visitors should be able to create chances and the extra rest gives me confidence they’ll be playing at full strength. For positive odds the money is right for the price, and it’s a good way to get our weekend started strong with a Friday payout.
⛏️ PICK: Frankfurt team total OVER 1.5 (+114)
Free Ligue One Picks For Week 23, 2021-22
St Etienne vs. Montpellier, Sat Feb 5, 11:00am (ET)
What in the world kind of drugs did they stumble upon to set this line (probably the same ones that turned my brain into this mess of crazy, but oh well). Sure, St Etienne found a spark of hope by beating Angers last time out, but this team has 15 points through 22 matches and a -24 goal difference which is pretty god damn atrocious. Montpellier aren’t the most reliable side and their 6th place standing in Ligue 1 is a bit deceiving because they’re within 3 points of 11th, but at +170 to beat the worst team in the League I’ll take a shot at this every damn time. I’d say the visitors are probably close to a coin flip to win this game, and getting close to a 2:1 payout is absolutely bonkers based on the level of play over the course of the season for these two clubs. Take Montpellier to win on the road.
⛏️ PICK: Montpellier moneyline (+170)
Free La Liga Picks For Week 23, 2021-22
Osasuna vs. Sevilla, Sat Fed 5, 3:00PM (ET)
Speaking of plus-odds money lines that don’t make much sense, enter: Sevilla. Admittedly, this one isn’t quite as bizarre as the last one, but getting second place Sevilla at +115 against an Osasuna side with a -5 GD is pretty damn generous. The home side score exactly a goal per game which poses problems for breaking down Sevilla, the team with the best defensive record in Spain, and Sevilla will come out firing to try to stay in touching distance of Real Madrid after dropping points in their last two matches. Basically, Sevilla are just a far better team and I’ll gladly take that number for them to win this game, even on the road.
⛏️ PICK: Sevilla moneyline (+115)
Free Swiss Super League Picks For Week 20, 2021-22
St Gallen vs. Young Boys, Sun Feb 5, 10:30am (ET)
Most of you probably don’t watch a whole lot of Swiss soccer and I don’t blame you. There are lots of things you could be doing with your life and this probably falls low on that list for most, but I’m an odd duck and I love it so here we are. Young Boys are a blast to watch (and now I’m on an FBI list…) and they lead the league in goals scored with 44 through 19 matches. St. Gallen, meanwhile, have the second worst defensive record and give up over 2 per game. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to solve that equation, so let’s go ahead and bet YB over 1.5 (-200) and over 2.5 (+176) for a balance of protection and high payout. The visitors should control this game and create a load of chances, and so long as they finish better than they did last weekend (an ugly 1-0 win over Lugano) I think 2 is probably the floor for them. Take a shot at a double winner with some strong value based on the gap between these two sides.
⛏️ PICK: Young Boys team total OVER 1.5 (-200), 2.5 (+176)
