Nottingham Forest vs. Tottenham - Pick of the Day
Sunday, August 28, 2022 - 11:30AM ET
Saturday’s pick saw us get a little frisky/aggressive, so on the Lord’s day we’ll repent for our sins and stay conservative. Tottenham have had a pretty damn good start to the year when you look at all the other big clubs who have stumbled worse out of the blocks, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t happy. Was the performance against Wolves inspiring? Absolutely not, but ugly wins are better than pretty losses.
And, while Spurs didn’t exactly inspire confidence in their offense last week, that had a lot more to do with Wolves having perfected an absolutely horrid style of play that’s akin to watching paint dry on a wall than Tottenham's abilities. Nottingham won’t be so proficient, which is why we’re throwing our chips on Spurs’ team total. But, while I think my boys are fully capable of putting up an ugly number, I’m not getting too aggressive. Spurs should get to the two-goal mark with all the talent they have up front, and, while -180 doesn’t sound great, the value is actually pretty damn solid without taking on more than we can chew.
Nottingham haven’t had any exceedingly bad defensive performances this season and have managed to survive some offensive onslaughts unscathed (just ask West Ham), which means it’s not necessarily the best team to fade. But, with that in mind, I still think Spurs score and the two-goal number is one that Tottenham should comfortably glide past (though it wouldn’t shock me if things got uglier than Brendan Fraser post-acting career). Play this one safe, and pray that Spurs hold up defensively as well (that part’s for me, not you).
