Week 4 English Premier League Best Bets

Brighton vs. Leeds Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, August 27 at 10:00AM ET

We may only be three games into this Premier League season but it’ll be pleasing for Leeds and Brighton fans that they both enter the weekend in the top five and sat on the same amount of points as both Man City and Tottenham.

Graham Potter’s Brighton have been brilliant and we know what a fantastic coach he is, but I’ve been hugely impressed by Jesse Marsch too. After replacing Marcelo Bielsa last season, he added some defensive strength to the team’s tactics and the team look even better after a preseason learning his methods.

There was real concern that losing Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips would be a fatal wound for Leeds but they’ve recruited so well. Bringing in fellow Americans Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson has been a masterstroke, with Aaronson in particular looking like a seriously talented player.

Given the great form that Leeds are in, I’m surprised their odds to win are so long, but there’s always a risk of a draw when there are two in-form teams like this. For that reason I’d recommend betting Leeds to win, draw no bet at +210. That means that if the game finishes tied, you’ll get your stake back. That feels like a huge value play.

Play: Leeds to win - Draw No Bet (+210 at FanDuel)

Brentford vs. Everton Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, August 27 at 10:00AM ET

Brentford started the weekend four points clear of Everton and they’ve been great this year. Despite some hard losses, I’ve been impressed for periods during Everton’s games this season and I think they have enough about them to stay up, especially with the additions of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady, two players who captained different Premier League teams last season and have the leadership to help the club stay up.

I’m certain Everton’s luck will turn but I’m not sure if it’ll be in West London against Brentford. For that reason, I think the smartest wager here is on Ivan Toney. Toney has been dangerous in front of goal for the Bees this season, netting twice in three games. I’ll take the +140 available on him scoring again against Everton.

Play: Ivan Toney to score (+140 at DraftKings)

Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, August 27 at 10:00AM ET

It’s hard to find any value betting on Man City’s home game against Crystal Palace. It’s hard to see anything but a Manchester City win but getting a good angle is difficult, so we’re again looking at the goalscorer market.

The big price of +260 available for Ilkay Gundogan to score anytime is very appealing. The German has scored two goals already for Man City this season. It’s been noticeable that the arrival of Erling Haaland has changed the way that the team plays and it’s been to the benefit of those in the middle, with any midfielder arriving late into the box likely to get a chance to shoot.

Gundogan has done exceptionally at finding space in the box this season and +260 is a very big price for the former Dortmund player to score his third of the season.

Play: Ilkay Gundogan to score (+260 at Bet365 for those in New Jersey)
