English Premier League Soccer Best Bets: Three Plays For Friday, September 16 & Saturday, September 17
Last weekend saw the Premier League postponed as the country reacted to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The Premier League returns this week although the slate is missing three games, due to policing and transport issues, largely down to the funeral on Monday. As well as that, we’ve seen games moved around, meaning that Friday has two matches and the Sunday slot finishes earlier than expected.
Despite that, there are plenty of games to enjoy before the two-week international break. Read below as we break down the very best of this weekend’s Premier League tips and predictions with our weekend best bets.

Week 8 English Premier League Best Bets
Nottingham Forest vs. Fulham: Best Bet
Kickoff: Friday, September 16 - 3:00PM ET
We’ve got two Premier League games on Friday but Nottingham Forest versus Fulham is the most interesting opportunity of the two and provides us with an opportunity to land a juicy bet to start the weekend.
Last time Fulham were in the Premier League they tried to sign their way to survival. It didn’t work, with the team needing too much time to gel. That makes Forest’s signing of 22 players this year even more ridiculous. Steve Cooper will have a huge struggle getting this team bedded in and playing well.
For that reason, I’m confident this disjointed defense will give up goals and the main benefactor will be Fulham’s brilliant Aleksandar Mitrovic. Mitro has scored six in six and is playing at the peak of his powers.
Alongside a Mitro goal, we’ll also be backing a card for Joao Palhinha. The 27-year old has been a great addition and really strengthened the midfield, however he’s picked up four bookings in just six games.
Put those two bets together in a small parlay and you’re getting a great price.
Bet: Aleksandar Mitrovic to score + Joao Palhinha to get booked (+900) with Caesars Sportsbook
Newcastle vs. Bournemouth: Best Bet
Kickoff: Saturday, September 17 - 10:00AM ET
Newcastle have continued their impressive form this season and enter the weekend sitting 11th in the Premier League after six games. Given that they’ve played both Manchester City and Liverpool in that timeframe, it makes it even more impressive.
They’ve only given up six goals so far this season and five of those were against City and Liverpool. That defense is hugely improved and, at a packed St James Park, they should be very capable of shutting out a poor Bournemouth team.
Bournemouth have managed five goals scored this season, not even averaging one per game and they’ll do well if they can score against Newcastle here. Their biggest concern will be keeping the Magpies out and given that they’ve conceded 18 goals this season, it might be beyond them. Back Newcastle to win to nil at a very good price.
Bet: Newcastle to win at nil (+130) with Caesars Sportsbook
Tottenham vs. Leicester City: Best Bet
Kickoff: Saturday, September 17 - 12:30PM ET
Leicester have been one of the best stories in the Premier League over the past couple of years and they’ve become a favorite for neutrals. That said, it feels like a change is in the air at the club, as they’re bottom of the Premier League and in serious trouble. They’ve overspent in the past and now the owners, sensibly, have lessened their spending. Manager Brendan Rodgers is under pressure and rightly so.
Leicester have been absolutely horrific defensively. They have allowed 16 goals this season, the second-most in the Premier League, and unlike Bournemouth they haven’t been beaten 9-0 at any time. They’ve allowed the likes of Brighton and Brentford to score five and two past them, that isn’t meant as disrespect to the other clubs, but more of a sign that Leicester aren’t where they would expect themselves to be now.
The insistence on playing a defensive midfielder at the back seems like a major mistake that Rodgers keeps making and it will continue to cost them. That backline just isn’t up to standard and the implementation of Danny Ward as the first choice goalkeeper looks like a mistake.
With a Spurs frontline of Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison in good goalscoring form there’s no doubt that Spurs will put a few goals past Leicester. Son Heung-Min has yet to score for Spurs yet this season but if there was ever a game to do it then it’s this one. Expect goals and take Spurs -1 at +120.
Bet: Tottenham -1 (+120) with Caesars Sportsbook
