Edgar Allen Poe Instagram post from Davante Adams Suggests Trade to Ravens
Here we go again...
It's NFL trade season which means cue the cryptic tweets and speculative social media posts that fuel the rumors around this exciting time of year.
Just days after Tyreek Hill stirred up the NFL world with his strange tweet, current Raiders disgruntled WR Davante Adams has taken to Instagram to get the rumor mill buzzing.
Davante Adams Trade Talks - Is Edgar Allen Poe the Clue We Need?
After informing the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday that he wanted to be traded, Davante Adams' next team has been the biggest story of the week in the NFL. The frontrunners for the star WR seemed to be the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints, but now there may be third team that's got the best chance - the Baltimore Ravens.
So, why Baltimore?
Well, Edgar Allen Poe, the famous poet now famous for being in Davante Adams' Instagram story, spent much of his life and was laid to rest in Baltimore. Arguably his most famous poem is 'The Raven' which also happens to be the mascot of that very Baltimore football team, and the mascot's name is...Poe.
So a post of Poe, a "Poest" if you will, has now taken all of our NFL attention and seized the moment. With two days before NFL Sunday, there's sure to be more to this story unfolding.
This could all mean absolutely nothing - maybe Davante just discovered the poet or he's hearing heartbeats under his floorboards, or maybe he's just discovered his emo phase.
Or perhaps, as well can't help but suspect, the WR has revealed his next playing destination.
For the Raiders, it means more chaos, as their star defensive end Maxx Crosby also may want out with the direction the team is heading in.
Davante Adams Next Team Odds: +1600 to Baltimore
Before this little social post by Adams, these were the odds for his next team per DraftKings Sportsbook:
- New York Jets (-110)
- New Orleans Saints (+300)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+450)
- Washington Commanders (+800)
- Dallas Cowboys (+800)
The Baltimore Ravens weren't even in the Top 5 his most likely destinations according to the sportsbook meaning this would be a truly stunning trade move for Davante Adams and the Ravens.
You'd have to go way down to +1600 to find Baltimore's odds to get the receiver and now we'll have to see what they move to following his cryptic Instagram post.
Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Odds
According to Dimers, the Baltimore Ravens chances to win the Super Bowl, AFC and AFC North are as follows:
- Super Bowl: 8.2%
- AFC: 16.1%
- AFC North: 56.6%
Baltimore currently has the fourth-highest super Bowl LIX odds, second-highest to win the AFC and are favored to win the AFC North, though all that may change if they acquire Davante Adams.
A new wide receiver weapon for Lamar Jackson would certainly bring another explosive element to an offense that's lacked a true No. 1 WR for a long time.
Week 6 NFL Schedule and What’s Next
Even if he were traded today, Davante Adams likely won't suit up for his new team right away, but the Week 6 NFL schedule is still full of big action. With teams vying for dominance in their respective divisions, the outcomes in Week 6 could have significant implications for the rest of the season.
