East Carolina vs. Cincinnati Betting Preview

Cincinnati would have had a great shot at playing in a New Year's Six game with a win over UCF last week, but the Knights ended up downing the Bearcats. Now, Cincinnati's lone focus will be to win the American Athletic Conference and just hope that's enough for the program to earn a spot in a big bowl game. The team does, however, have a tough matchup with East Carolina on deck.

The Pirates have won each of their last three games and actually earned a 21-point win over the same Knights team that beat the Bearcats last week. East Carolina also earned a very impressive road win over BYU before having a bye last week. That means that the Pirates have a ton of momentum and also had the benefit of getting some extra rest before this one. That makes this a matchup that could end up being really competitive.

It should be noted that Cincinnati is 8-1 against the spread in home games after having gained 6.25 or more yards per play in its previous game since the start of the 2020-21 season. The Bearcats have won those games by an average of 28.8 points per game, so this is a trend that has really meant a lot in Cincinnati games recently.

East Carolina is, however, 4-1 both straight-up and ATS when playing as a road underdog of seven points or less under Mike Houston. So, the Pirates will also feel great about their chances.
