College Football Bets: What You Need To Know Before Week 13
Jesus fucking Christ guys, throw us a bone. Sure, it was cool to talk about how we had some clarity in college football and an understanding of how the final weeks “projected,” but none of us wanted it to actually go according to plan. And before anyone gets in here and talks about how Washington and Michigan never quite managed to pull away in their wins on Saturday, let me just say that you’re a fool. Those games were still mediocre, and there wasn't really anything entertaining in the form of upsets unless you liked watching JMU blow their perfect season (you jerk) or watching Auburn lose to NMSU at home (actually pretty funny).
So, as planned, we trudge along to our final week of full college football with everything right where we left it last week, like a well-kept storage room designed and cared for by someone with OCD. It’s not as if we have nothing exciting to look forward to, but I need some chaos in my life like a heroin addict needs heroin (probably not the best analogy but whatever). Let’s hope for a bit more of that to go along with our Three Things to Know.
Before diving into Dimers' college football predictions or this week's best college football bets, you should know it definitely pays to have more than one funded US Sportsbook account when betting on sports.
For example, did you know that new users at bet365 can get $150 in bonus bets after betting just $5? That's easily one of the best promos to take advantage of when betting on football this season.
1. What to do with FSU
When I said that there weren't any meaningful losses last week, I was sort of lying. Because, while Florida State managed to beat the ever-loving piss out of a hopeless North Alabama team, they lost their starting QB, Jordan Travis, to a gruesome leg injury that will end his season. But that begs the question, how do we handle the Noles as a potential playoff team?
It’s hard to say whether they’ll be able to navigate a tricky matchup with Florida or an ACC Title game against Louisville with a backup QB but, assuming they do, it puts everyone in a very awkward position. Even before they lost Travis, I had been pretty low on this team and expected their ceiling to be a bad loss in the Semi-Finals. Now, the committee may have no choice but to throw them to the Wolves (Wolverines?) as an undefeated ACC Champion even though nobody thinks they would have a prayer against UGA/Ohio State/Michigan. At this point, fans should be rooting hard for them to blow this or else we might get stuck with a game similar to Cincy-Bama a couple of years ago.
2. Rivalry Week (Including Some Sad Goodbyes)
One of our greatest hopes for a major upset this week comes from the fact that it’s rivalry week. These are still college kids playing in big-time games (aka they’re prone to letting pressure get to them), and it wouldn't be shocking to see a few matchups end a little closer than expected. Now, that’s not to say that all rivalries are made the same. In particular, the UGA-GT game continues to be one of the greatest wastes of time in CFB, while this year’s Iron Bowl is likely not one Auburn fans are looking forward to.
On top of that, the self-inflicted destruction of the Pac-12 puts a few of their rivalry games in jeopardy. Sure, I don't really care all that much about Oregon-Oregon St. or Washington-Washington St., but the genuine school hatred is one of the things that makes CFB worth watching. Let’s hope, particularly for the fans of those schools, that they put their differences aside and keep playing each other (though, based on the current litigation, something tells me they may not…).

3. Settling the Big 10 Once and For All
Thank fucking god. After 12 weeks of football that did absolutely nothing to shake the notion that the Big 10 and its CFP bid would come down to a single game between the Buckeyes and the Wolverines, we finally get the matchup everyone has been waiting for. And, as usual, it’s pretty much a “damned if you do, damned if you dont” situation.
On the one side you have one of THE most insufferable fan groups in the nation (see what I did there?) who I would be glad to watch suffer, and on the other you have the Harbaugh-led group of buffoons who are sacrificing coaches left and right to try to protect the brand as if we don't all know that this went all the way to the top. Essentially, you have to pick the less bad option here, and for me, that is (god forgive me) the Buckeyes.
While I don't care all that much about Michigan “cheating,” I do care about watching good football and I honestly don't buy that the Wolverines are a top team. If anyone is going to give the SEC a run for its money it’s going to be the Buckeyes, and any chance to watch Harrison Jr. play is a blessing. The players will have to settle this for us, but I think we’re all better off with Ohio State taking the win.
