TCU vs. Georgia College Football Playoff National Championship: Bettors Favoring Horned Frogs on Monday, January 9

We're going to see an epic showdown between the Georgia Bulldogs and TCU Horned Frogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday, January 9. We have you covered with how to bet the game from every angle possible, as we have an expert pick, our computer picks and then our predictive analytics model's favorite player props for the game. Those last two are backed by some of the strongest artificial intelligence on the planet. It is, however, fun to look at where the action is in a big game like this, and that's something that our friends over at BetMGM Sportsbook were able to provide. It's pretty shocking to see how lopsided the action in this one is, and it's also interesting to see how far the odds have shifted since before the season.

TCU vs. Georgia College Football Playoff National Championship Game - Action Report

TCU vs. Georgia Spread Betting

The Bulldogs opened this game as 13.5-point favorites and that line has moved down a bit, as the public is just peppering the Horned Frogs in this game. TCU has received a ridiculous 71% of the spread bets in this one, but with just 58% of the handle being on Sonny Dykes' team. Casual bettors clearly believe that Max Duggan and Co. are capable of hanging around here, and that huge wave of public action appears to have moved the line a little. It does, however, look like sharp bettors might be on Kirby Smart's group, as there's a larger percentage of handle than there is tickets. That generally means big money is on the line.

TCU vs. Georgia Total Betting

Much like the spread betting in this game, the total is also getting lopsided action. More than 70% of bettors and just about the same percentage of the handle are on the Over in this game, which is why the number has climbed since it opened at 61.5. It only makes sense after college football fans saw these teams involved in serious shootouts in their semi-final games.

TCU vs. Georgia Moneyline Betting

TCU opened as a +400 underdog on the moneyline, but nearly 90% of bettors have put their bets on the Horned Frogs to win outright. This is, however, the least meaningful market to look at, as the odds are so bad for Georgia that it just doesn't pay to back the Bulldogs. If anything, people might look to throw Stetson Bennett's squad into some of their parlays. But most casual bettors will want to throw a little something on the underdog and hope to be a part of the Cinderella story.

How It Started vs. How It's Going

To borrow from a popular social media formula, we also thought it'd be fun to look at how far these teams have come since the season started. TCU was +15000 to win the national championship before the year, with Dykes taking over a program that was just 5-7 in 2021. Now, his group is +375 and one win away from winning college football's ultimate prize. Meanwhile, Georgia was the preseason favorite to win it all, as the Dawgs were +200 before the year. Now, they're all the way at -500, making them a massive favorite to claim back-to-back titles.
