CFB Computer Picks, Analysis and Best Bet For NC State vs. Clemson on October 1, 2022

Weather will certainly be a factor in a huge ACC clash in which the NC State Wolfpack take on the Clemson Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:30PM ET from Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. Hurricane Ian could bring windy conditions to this one, which would certainly affect this game. NC State is off to a 4-0 start with wins against East Carolina, Charleston Southern, Texas Tech and UConn. Clemson is also 4-0 after surviving a double-overtime game at Wake Forest last weekend.

Will the Wolfpack roll into South Carolina and give the Tigers a scare? You might want to keep reading our NC State vs. Clemson betting preview to find out.

NC State vs. Clemson Analysis

The Spread

Despite the 4-0 start, the offense is still a concern for NC State. The Wolfpack only put up 21 and 27 points against their two toughest opponents that they’ve played this season. NC State is 69th in FBS in yards per game, which is somewhat surprising when you consider Devin Leary is the team's quarterback. He's a very talented signal-caller and had a huge season last year.

It will be difficult for both offenses to get going here due to expected heavy rainfall and wind. The passing game might simply be out of the question. Clemson has been the better rushing team up until this point. Expect a heavy dose of Will Shipley from the Clemson offense.

Both defenses are among the best in the ACC. NC State is 13th in the country in yards allowed per game. Clemson is 48th in the same category. The Tigers have one of the best front sevens in the country. Both teams are top 10 in FBS against the run, which bodes well considering the expected conditions. This just might be an old-fashioned, three yards and a cloud of dust type of game because of the wind and rain.

The spread here is Clemson -6.5 at home. We think these teams are pretty evenly matched, especially in rushing offense and rushing defense, which will be a focal point of this game. We like NC State to cover the spread and the DimersBOT agrees. This could be a game that comes right down to the wire because it is so low scoring, so an NC State outright win isn’t totally out of the question.

The Over/Under

The movement in the point total for this game has been nothing short of drastic. The total opened at 46.5 before moving down because of the expected conditions. We expect this to be a run-heavy game. Both offenses will want to chew the clock. Don’t expect a whole lot of pass attempts. This will be sloppy all around.

As of the time of writing, the point total is at 40. It will likely continue to go down as kick off approaches. We don’t have a heavy lean here because we don’t know exactly what the weather will look like on Saturday. If we had to lean one way, we would lean toward the Under slightly because it would be hard to move the football with a one-dimensional offense. Plus, both run defenses are among the best in the nation.

NC State vs. Clemson Best Bet

Wolfpack +6.5

The point total is a little tricky to gauge because of the weather. In perfect conditions, it would be close to 50. If the weather clears up by Saturday, the point total will be way off. The safer bet is with NC State against the spread.

We strongly suggest taking this with the DraftKings bet $5 to get $150 offer mentioned at the top of this article because, even if the Wolfpack don't cover, new customers still get $150 just for joining and placing a successful $5 moneyline bet on the gameYou can claim it ➡️ here ⬅️.
