College Football Best Bets: Picks & Analysis For Western Kentucky vs. South Alabama In The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl On Wednesday, December 21
On Wednesday, December 21, college football fans and bettors will be treated to a meeting between the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and South Alabama Jaguars in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. South Alabama has won 10 games this season, but the team will be hoping for an 11th victory when it takes on a Western Kentucky team that has had a drama-filled month. The team's star quarterback, Austin Reed, entered the transfer portal, but he ended up withdrawing after having received a new NIL deal to stay with the Hilltoppers. With that said, it'll be interesting to see how Western Kentucky deals with that, as it was likely a distraction. Anyway, our college football picks were very profitable for us during the regular season and we're confident we can continue providing winners the rest of the way.
If you haven't already, you should consider signing up for DraftKings ➡️ here ⬅️ as you can turn a $5 pre-game moneyline bet on any game into a free $150 if your team wins.

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. South Alabama Jaguars - 9:00PM ET
We already went into the drama surrounding Western Kentucky earlier, but we do see a scenario in which it impacts this game. The Hilltoppers still had time to prepare for this one, but they were likely distracted despite having an upcoming meeting with an elite defense. This season, the Jaguars gave up only 19.4 points per game, which was good for 14th in FBS. This is a South Alabama team that has also had a lot of extra time to study Tyson Helton's offense. That time matters a lot when you're talking about a team that has already proven it knows how to get ready for opponents.
The Jaguars should also have no trouble running the football in this one. Western Kentucky's opponents rushed for at least 190 yards in three of the team's final six games, and South Alabama has the ability to run wild against lousy defenses. With that said, keep an eye on La'Damian Webb in this one. He has rushed for 1,014 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, and he'll be looking to show out on the national stage.
It's also important to point out that the Hilltoppers are just 1-8 against the spread in games with totals between 49.5 and 56 over the last three seasons. Western Kentucky lost those games by an average of 10.8 points per game, so don't be too surprised if this one gets ugly. We should also mention that the Hilltoppers are 1-2-1 ATS in bowl games under Helton.
