College Football Best Bets For The Tuesday, December 27 Bowl Games
Camellia Bowl: Georgia Southern Eagles vs. Buffalo Bulls - 12:00PM ET
Georgia Southern averaged 33.7 points per game this season, while Buffalo averaged 29.0 points per game. The Eagles also had one of the worst defenses in the nation this year, giving up 32.3 points per game. Meanwhile, the Bulls gave up 27.2 points per game. Overall, we're just letting you know that these are two teams that can really score the football, and neither one of them really does much to slow opponents down. With that in mind, we're expecting this to be one of the biggest shootouts of bowl season.
The final game of Georgia Southern's season was actually one in which the team combined to score 99 points with Appalachian State. The Over was also 4-1 in the final five games that Buffalo played. All in all, we're just expecting some serious fireworks in this one.
As a cherry on top, we like the fact that the Over is 4-0 in the four games in which Buffalo has played against teams that average 5.9 or more yards per play under Maurice Linguist.

SERVPRO First Responder Bowl: Memphis Tigers vs. Utah State Aggies - 3:15PM ET
It's pretty shocking that Utah State was able to make it to a bowl game after a 1-4 start to the season, but the team went 5-2 in its final seven games and found a way in. Now, you have to think that the Aggies will be a little more amped up for this one than their opponents, who went 2-5 down the stretch and had a disappointing year, in general. That type of stuff is really hard to ignore, as mentality is very important during bowl season.
This is also a game that is expected to turn into a shootout, but Memphis is just 4-10 straight-up and 4-9-1 against the spread when playing in games with a total of 56.5 to 63 over the last three seasons. Utah State, meanwhile, is 8-2 both SU and ATS after having won four or five of its last six games in that same span. So, this team really stays hot when it gets there.
The Aggies are also just a little more trustworthy defensively. Neither one of these defenses is particularly strong, but Utah State should be able to make just enough defensive plays to lose this one by less than a touchdown — or win outright.

TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers vs. East Carolina Pirates - 6:45PM ET
In one of the coolest moves we've seen from a star college player, quarterback Grayson McCall is expected to be playing for Coastal Carolina after having entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago. And with McCall out there, it's just hard to believe that the Pirates have what it takes to completely blow the doors off the Chanticleers.
Coastal Carolina did lose head coach Jamey Chadwell to Liberty after the regular season, but the Chanticleers have enough talent to hang around in a meeting with the Pirates. East Carolina had some big wins this season, but the team also lost two of its last three games and failed to cover in back-to-back contests to end the year.
The Chants should be motivated by the opportunity to win 10 games for the third year in a row. And the line movement in this game suggests it's a strong possibility, as Coastal isn't getting anywhere near as many points as it was when the line opened. Our DimersBOT gives the Chants a 55% shot at covering here, which is a pretty high number.

Guaranteed Rate Bowl: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys - 10:15PM ET
Graham Mertz wasn't a very productive player for Wisconsin, but his absence means that both of these teams will be playing this game without their starting quarterbacks — the Cowboys lost Spencer Sanders to the transfer portal. Right off the bat, that makes it hard to envision there being many points scored in this game, even if the conditions should be good in this one.
Wisconsin also happened to have a very solid defense this year, so the team should be in a decent position to slow down a shorthanded Oklahoma State offense in this game. Meanwhile, the Cowboys might have been miserable defensively this season, but they really don't need to worry about anything but slowing down Braelon Allen and the Badgers running game in this spot. It's just very hard to envision a scenario in which Wisconsin lights it up in the passing game, so slowing down the run will be the recipe to success.
It should also be noted that the Under is 9-7 in all bowl games that Mike Gundy has coached at Oklahoma State. It's also 7-1 in games the team has played as an underdog on a neutral field under Gundy.
