The Nebraska Cornhuskers are living through an absolute nightmare right now. They have lost two of their first three games and all of them have been against inferior opponents. The team then fired Scott Frost as head coach, despite him being billed as the savior of the program a few years ago. Mickey Joseph now takes over as the interim head coach. In his first game, Nebraska plays a Top 10 team in Oklahoma. This game is in Lincoln and will kick off at 12:00PM ET from Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 17.

Oklahoma vs. Nebraska Best Bets, Predictions and Analysis

Spread Breakdown

Nebraska is in the midst of turmoil. Frost just got fired after the 45-42 loss against Georgia Southern and Joseph takes over as the interim coach. How does the team respond after the firing? Will they rally behind Joseph and pull off a shocker?

Under Frost, Nebraska played in numerous close games, but lost a majority of those contests. Frost was 5-22 in one possession games with the Huskers and Joseph will quickly look to reverse that trend. But he and Nebraska have their work cut out for them.

Oklahoma comes to town after beating UTEP and Kent State in its opening two games by a combined score of 78 to 16. The defense has been the big difference between Brent Venables’ team and Lincoln Riley’s teams at Oklahoma. The Sooners have nine sacks, nine passes defended, two interceptions and two forced fumbles through two games this season.

The Sooners still have a really good offense with Dillon Gabriel at quarterback. Gabriel has tossed five touchdowns so far this season. Two of those touchdown passes were to star wide receiver Marvin Mims. Nebraska has been struggling all around defensively, so expect Oklahoma to put up yards through the air and on the ground.

The DimersBOT leans slightly in favor of Nebraska to cover the spread in this one, and we're rolling with it. This will be a tough environment for the Sooners to play in, as Memorial Stadium is one of the loudest venues to play at in the country.

The Huskers always have a tendency to keep games close, and there is a reason for that. They have the roster to keep this game within single digits, and new coaches generally find ways to get through to their teams.

Over/Under Breakdown

It will be interesting to see what kind of offense Nebraska rolls out on Saturday without Frost. Offensive Coordinator Mark Whipple will still be the main play caller, but how will his plan change with Frost gone? There are a lot of variables with the change at the head of the table for Nebraska.

The point total for this game is set at 66.5. Considering how well Oklahoma’s defense is playing, we like the Under a lot. The DimersBOT agrees, despite Nebraska’s defensive struggles. This game is at Memorial Stadium, so the Sooners could struggle offensively early on with the loud environment. And the coaching change leads us to believe that this Huskers team will look a bit different than the fast-paced squad we saw under Frost.

Best Bet: Sooners vs. Cornhuskers

Our best bet for this game is Under 66.5 points. We are more confident in the point total than the spread here. There's just a lot we don't know about Nebraska right now, but we do know that Oklahoma's defense can give Casey Thompson and Co. some trouble.

We strongly suggest taking this with the DraftKings bet $5 to get $200 offer mentioned at the top of this article because, even if the Under doesn't hit, new customers still get $200 just for joining and betting at least $5 on the gameYou can claim it ➡️ here ⬅️.
