Marshall vs. Notre Dame Best Bets, Predictions and Analysis

Spread Breakdown

Notre Dame held Ohio State in its opening game to 21 points. The Buckeyes are expected to have one of the top offenses in the country, so that was a small win for Notre Dame’s defense in what was a tough opening-week defeat.

Marshall has a new quarterback in Texas Tech transfer Henry Colombi. Colombi was an efficient 24-for-26 passing for 205 yards against Norfolk State last week. But this will be one of the toughest tests in Colombi’s collegiate career.

The position group to watch on this Marshall offense is its running back room. The Herd did lose Rasheen Ali indefinitely, but they still have depth at the position with Ethan Payne and Khalan Laborn. Both backs ran for over 100 yards against Norfolk State.

Notre Dame’s offense needs to find a groove against Marshall. The Fighting Irish need to get the run game going especially. They only had 76 rushing yards against Ohio State. Tight end Michael Mayer will be a big mismatch against the Marshall defense. Mayer is 6’4” and weighs 240 pounds. The Thundering Herd defense likely will not have an answer for Mayer, who should be targeted frequently all over the field.

A position group to watch out for on Notre Dame’s offense is the wide receivers. Avery Davis tore his ACL in fall camp, so new faces will need to step up. Some names to watch in this game include Lorenzo Styles, Jayden Thomas and Braden Lenzy.

The spread is at -20.5 in favor of Notre Dame. The DimersBOT favors Marshall to cover the spread and we agree. The Thundering Herd are one of the best teams in the Sun Belt, on paper. While they won’t have their best player on the field, they have the talent to keep it within three scores.

Over/Under Breakdown

Notre Dame doesn’t have any established commodities at the skill positions outside of Mayer. The Fighting Irish will likely rely on its offensive line to move the ball downfield in the run game. Notre Dame and Marshall just don’t have the offenses to score a ton of points.

The point total is set at 51.5 for this game. The DimersBOT likes the Under and it's really easy to see why. The defenses will control this game. There is a lack of explosiveness in the passing game for both Notre Dame and Marshall, which will make it difficult for them to put up points.

Best Bet: Thundering Herd vs. Fighting Irish

We like the Under 51.5 points in this game. Both Marshall and Notre Dame have question marks on the offensive side of the ball, while the defenses for these two teams are solid.

We strongly suggest taking this with the DraftKings bet $5 to get $200 offer mentioned at the top of this article because, even if the Under doesn't hit, new customers still get $200 just for joining and betting at least $5 on the gameYou can claim it ➡️ here ⬅️.
