Kentucky vs. Florida Best Bets, Predictions and Analysis

Spread Breakdown

The fans in Gainesville are riding high after their team defeated Utah in the season opener. The Utes were considered a potential College Football Playoff team, so it's absolutely massive that Napier was able to get his Gators that type of win so early in his time with Florida. The team does, however, still have some noticeable flaws, with a questionable defense being one of them.

Utah quarterback Cameron Rising drove right down the field on the last drive of the game last week and the Utes really should have punched it in for the win. But Rising ended up making an uncharacteristically bad decision and threw a pick, gifting the Gators the game. Florida probably won't be as lucky against Kentucky and quarterback Will Levis, who has all the makings of a future first-round pick in the NFL Draft.

Last week, Levis threw for 303 yards with three touchdowns and one pick in a 37-13 win over Miami Ohio. He has a big body and a big arm and will find ways to keep the Gators on their heels with his ability to both spin it and pick up chunk yardage with his legs. It's a little hard to imagine Florida finding a way to slow down this passing game, as wide receiver Tayvion Robinson is also a star on the outside.

On top of Kentucky having an offense that can give Florida trouble, the Wildcats should also be somewhat prepared to play against Anthony Richardson. The uber-talented Gators quarterback showed off his dual-threat ability in the win over the Utes last week, and he has to have some Florida fans drooling due to his undoubted similarities to Cam Newton. But Mark Stoops just so happens to be one of the best head coaches in the SEC and he'll put together a game plan that puts his defense in the best position to succeed.

Look for the Wildcats to put quite a bit of pressure on Richardson and do their best to force him to beat them with his arm. They'll also do everything they can to keep him in the pocket, and it helps that they have a good group of linebackers there to try and dictate the play. It also helps that Kentucky's weakest unit is along the defensive line, but Florida isn't a team that appears ready to exploit that with its ground attack. The Gators did rush for 283 yards last week, but 106 of those came from Richardson. That's a whole different ballgame and the Wildcats know they must contain him.

It's just hard not to see the value in taking Kentucky +4.5 here. The Wildcats are actually 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the Gators, and they're also 19-10 ATS when coming off a game in which they gave up 14 or fewer points under Stoops. It also doesn't hurt that our DimersBOT gives Kentucky a 52% chance of covering the spread.

Over/Under Breakdown

Both of these offenses have talented quarterbacks and that makes it feel like this game could end up being a showcase for both of them. And while we like Kentucky to ultimately get a few more stops than Florida in this one, the Wildcats aren't going to win without also letting the Gators find some success on offense. This has the potential to be a game in which both teams score in 30s, which is why the DimersBOT gives it a 57% chance of going Over the 52.5-point total.

Since Stoops became Kentucky's head coach, the Over is 8-4 when his team is coming off a cover as a double-digit favorite. It's also 10-7 in his Wildcats' games in the first two weeks of the season.

Best Bet: Wildcats vs. Gators

This is a game that looks like fool's good, with the sportsbooks hoping that bettors flock to Florida after the team earned a big win over Utah. But this should be another really close game and Kentucky has what it takes to steal a win here. That's why we're rolling with the Wildcats +4.5 as our best bet.

We strongly suggest taking this with the DraftKings bet $5 to get $200 offer mentioned at the top of this article because, even if Kentucky doesn't cover, new customers still get $200 just for joining and betting at least $5 on the gameYou can claim it ➡️ here ⬅️.
