Alabama vs. Texas Best Bets, Predictions and Analysis

Spread Breakdown

Alabama returns 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young at quarterback. Young accounted for six total touchdowns (five passing and one rushing) against Utah State. This Alabama offense has one of the most balanced attacks in the country. The Crimson Tide rushed for 278 yards and threw for 281 yards against the Aggies on Saturday.

The Texas defense is led by linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. He had eight total tackles and two tackles for loss in Texas’ opening win last week. The Longhorn defense does need to improve on tackling if they want to hold the Alabama offense, but Overshown is somebody to keep an eye on. He'll be worked extremely hard in this game.

The Texas offensive line will be a major focus of this game. It will have to really improve from its performance on Saturday. The Longhorn offensive line gave up three sacks against a much weaker opponent. It doesn’t help that its best player, Junior Angilau, is out for the season.

Alabama has one of the best pass-rush duos in the country in Will Anderson Jr. and Dallas Turner. If the Texas offensive line struggles in pass protection, it might be a long day for Quinn Ewers, Bijan Robinson and the rest of the Longhorn offense.

The spread in this game is -20 in favor of Alabama and we like Alabama to pull away in the second half and turn this game into a route. The Texas defense is the key here. If that defense can tackle in open space, Texas has a chance to cover. But if it continues to struggle in that department, Alabama can blow this game wide open. We think the Longhorns will have trouble in this one.

Over/Under Breakdown

Both of these teams have good offenses. There is no doubt about that. If Texas is going to hang around with Alabama, it most likely won’t be because of its defense. If it is a close game, it will be because Texas puts up a lot of points.

The DimersBOT is leaning toward the Over in this game at 62.5 points. That is a pretty high point total considering it is still early in the season and the offenses might not be functioning at their maximum potentials. But we still like the Over. Even if Texas doesn’t have a ton of success on the offensive side, Alabama is good enough to put up 40+ points, and we know Texas will score as well. It’s just a matter of how many points it is able to put up.

Best Bet: Crimson Tide vs. Longhorns

On paper, Nick Saban might have his best team ever at Alabama. That is scary to think about considering how many national championships that he has won in Tuscaloosa. Texas is still in a rebuilding phase, as Steve Sarkisian is still trying to establish a winning culture in Austin. Overall, Alabama is far and away the better team at both lines of scrimmage. That is why we like Alabama -20 over Texas.

We strongly suggest taking this with the DraftKings bet $5 to get $200 offer mentioned at the top of this article because, even if Alabama doesn't cover, new customers still get $200 just for joining and betting at least $5 on the gameYou can claim it ➡️ here ⬅️.
