College Basketball Best Bets for Wednesday, January 18

TCU Horned Frogs vs. West Virginia Mountaineers - 7:00PM ET

West Virginia is a broken basketball team right now. The Mountaineers have lost five straight games, and while the analytics still love them, I'm not sure why. Bob Huggins' squad is 0-7 this season against top 40 opponents. Their best win has been either Florida or Pitt - both bubble teams with low ceilings. They have just one top 100 recruit on the roster - Tre Mitchell, who started his career at UMass.

TCU on the other hand, has taken care of business against teams like this. The Horned Frogs are 6-2 against top 100 teams this year, and an impressive 4-0 against teams in the 20-50 range, where West Virginia falls. With Mike Miles active, TCU's only losses of the season are to top 11 teams Texas and Iowa State. They should handle business on the road tonight.

BET: TCU +2.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Providence Friars vs. Marquette Golden Eagles - 9:00PM ET

The first meeting between these two squads was an instant classic - needing double overtime for Providence to pull away with a five point victory. Providence rarely loses anything other than close games - only two times in 18 games this season have the Friars failed to cover 7.5.  Add in last year's results to the mix, and the Friars hav failed to cover 7.5 points only five times in 51 games.

Marquette has gotten some love from national media this season as a team that has really handled their best competition well. While true in certain games, it has been false in others. Marquette is just 5-5 this season vs. top 50 opponents, with a home loss to a mediocre Wisconsin team. Historically, Shaka Smart teams have started to slide in the middle of conference play, and we feel good rocking with the Friars tonight.

Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Missouri Tigers - 9:00PM ET

Two sliding teams are set to face off here, but I'm more concerned for Arkansas, who may have been broken in the loss to Alabama last week. The Razorbacks have now lost three straight games by 13 or more points, including a bad loss at Vanderbilt last game. They're just 4-5 vs. top 100 opponents, and haven't really won a "hard" game yet, with their best win being a neutral site win over San Diego State.

Missouri has lost a few straight, but they have been great at home, going 10-1 on the season so far including a big win over Kentucky. Missouri strikes us as a team with a killer instinct - they destroyed Illinois on a neutral floor when Illinois had some locker room problems earlier this season. This is a revenge spot for the Tigers, at home, and we like them to cover.

BET: Missouri -1.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook
