Betway Sportsbook to Cease U.S. Sports Betting Operations in All States

Betway Sportsbook, operated by Super Group (SGHC) Limited, is exiting the U.S. market due to an inability to compete profitably.

Super Group's decision stems from the dominance of major players like FanDuel and DraftKings, which control three-quarters of the market. Despite Betway's strong international presence, the company's review concluded that long-term profitability in the U.S. is unattainable.

Betway will cease operations in nine states, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania, but Super Group will maintain its iGaming presence through its online casino, Spin. Betway follows other smaller sportsbooks like Unibet, FoxBet, and PointsBet in leaving the U.S. market.

Who is betway?

Betway Sportsbook was one of the smaller competitors in the market, however it did gain some brand recognition as an NHL sportsbooks partner, as well as being known as the jersey sponsor of Premier League club West Ham United, featured prominently in the hit T.V. sitcom Ted Lasso.

List of States Affected

The following are states where betway will cease operations, with the exception of continuing its online casino offerings in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Curiously, betway obtained a legal sportbetting license for the state of Massachusetts, yet never launched operations in the state.

Sportsbook Options for betway users

Understandably, betway users left in limbo will be looking for the next sportsbook they can join.

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Iowa
  • Indiana
  • Louisiana
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Ohio
  • Virginia
