Formula 1 is back in Austria at the famed Red Bull Ring located in Styria, the second largest state in Austria for the 2022 F1 Austrian Grand Prix.

This is Team Red Bull’s home track and you can expect a large crowd supporting Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, the two Red Bull drivers.
The stands will be a sea of orange as fans are known to cheer their drivers with orange smoke canisters.

The Red Bull Ring has the fewest corners per lap of any circuit on the current calendar. There are only 10 official corners, four of which often do not even require the drivers to brake.
The circuit is 2.68 miles long with three DRS zones to promote over-taking with top speeds of over 210 miles per hour.

It’s the second round of the early July double-header this weekend and it’s another superb venue in the form of the Red Bull Ring!
It’s also a Sprint race weekend, so plenty of action to look forward to!#AustrianGP 🇦🇹 #F1 pic.twitter.com/QZvHOauO7O
The spoiler of the weekend is a high probability of rain throughout qualifying and during the race itself on Sunday. Rain adds more options to the race strategy as far as tire choices and luck — good or bad timing of pit stops.
Timing of inevitable safety cars and red flags can have a big impact on who is on the podium and takes the checkered flag. There is a predicted window of clear weather on Saturday for the Sprint Race, which we expect the favorites to dominate. Rain is always a major equalizer, giving midfield drivers a real chance at the podium and, at times even, an unexpected win.
Verstappen is the odds-on favorite at -110, and with the points leader on his home turf, a win — which would be his seventh of the season — would seem to be his to lose.
Verstappen had some mechanical issues at the last race in Silverstone at the British Grand Prix which kept him off the podium, but this weekend, if Red Bull can avoid further mechanical issues, Verstappen will likely win.
The biggest question for bettors is, who will be second and third?
Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez is coming off a strong race last week at Silverstone with a second-place finish. He has been consistent all season with five second-place finishes and one win at Monaco. Perez has finished on the podium in six of 10 races this season and has a very good chance for the podium for a seventh time but at -105 might not be a good value.

For Ferrari, Charles LeClerc and Carlos Sainz are both serious contenders for the win and the podium. LeClerc, no doubt, has the talent and the speed to speed to win this race. Despite having dropped in the point standings after two wins early in the season, those setbacks were due to mechanical — not driving — issues.
Sainz, on the other hand, is fresh off a win last week at Silverstone and with six podium finishes this year. Both Ferraris are favorites this weekend but favorites are not a great bet, especially with rain in the forecast.

Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have found their pace with upgrades to their car and an impressive finish last week.
Mercedes is this week’s best bet for podium with Hamilton at +180 and Russell at +235.

With the chance of rain, anything can happen and with the favorites leaving the door open, Mercedes could well get its first win of the season.
Even midfield drivers with McLaren, Alfa Romeo and Alpine are all threats for the podium if rainy conditions continue throughout the weekend, making dark horse bets Lando Norris (+1200), Valtteri Bottas (+1800) and Fernando Alonso (+1400) best bets for a bigger payout.
PICK: Hamilton (+1200) to win and Russell at (+235) to podium.
