Betting on the LIV Golf Invitational Series
The LIV Golf Invitational Series is ready to embark with its inaugural event Thursday through Saturday at the Centurion Club in London.
Founded by Australian golf legend Greg Norman, the controversial Saudi Arabian-funded tour has lured away several former majors winners from the PGA Tour such as Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia.

The debut event will utilize a combination team and individual format in a 54-hole tournament. There are 12 teams of four golfers, with each player drafted by one of the team captains. Teams will take the top two scores from their members during the first two rounds of the tournament, with the top three scores counting in the final round.

BetMGM reported Thursday morning that Dustin Johnson at +500 was the leading pick in ticket and handle at 17.4% and 25.9%, respectively.
Phil Mickelson, one of the most outspoken members of the PGA Tour in favor of the LIV Tour — a stance which caused him to be suspended by the PGA Tour on Thursday, is drawing the second highest ticket at 12.6%, but bettors aren’t placing big bets on him, as Mickelson isn’t listed in the top three in handle.
The LIV Golf Invitational Series is set for an eight-event schedule running until late October, with stops in England, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and five American states.
