Game 6: New York Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Eastern Conference Finals

Saturday June 11, 2022 8PM ET

Why the favorite Lightning will cover the puck line

The Tampa Bay Lightning have won three consecutive games in this series and have covered the puckline in their last four. Tampa Bay appears to be in the heads of the New York Rangers right now. Andrei Vasilevskiy has only given up four goals in the last three games compared to giving up nine goals in the first two games of this series.

They got scoring from an unexpected source in Game 5 in Mikhail Sergachev and he also assisted on Ondrej Palat’s game-winning goal with 1:50 remaining.

This is Palat’s second game-winning goal of this series and he has eight total goals this postseason.

This is the first time this postseason also that they won a game without Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos recording a point in the same game. Kucherov recorded his 15th assist of the postseason on Brandon Hagel’s empty-net goal (second this postseason).

Why the underdog Rangers will cover the puck line

The New York Rangers are 5-0 this postseason when facing elimination. When you think you have the New York Rangers on toast, they are never out of it. Some believe that New York has Tampa Bay right where they want them.

The Rangers need an offensive outburst from all of their stars in Game 6 and players like Adam Fox, Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin, and Chris Kreider all step up when it matters the most.

Igor Shesterkin is always a different goalie when the New York Rangers face elimination though.

BET: Rangers to cover, but DimersBOT identifies an edge on Rangers moneyline, too at +140

Why Lightning vs. Rangers will go Over 5 Total Goals

It has happened only once in this series and that was back in Game 1, when the Rangers defeated the Lightning 6-2. New York all of a sudden goes on an offensive outburst with their backs against the wall. They have scored four or more goals a game when facing elimination this postseason.

DimersBOT Prediction: Over 5 goals (57% probability)

Why Hurricanes vs. Rangers will stay Under 5 Total Goals

Andrei Vasilevskiy is ridiculous in close-out game situations. When the Florida Panthers recorded their third loss of the series in Round 2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Vasilevskiy recorded a shutout. Another shutout is on the horizon and Tampa Bay could win over New York by a 4-0 or 5-0 shutout.

The X-Factor: Mika Zibanejad, Center, New York Rangers

Mika Zibanejad has been held without a point in the last two games against the Tampa Bay Lightning for the New York Rangers. In 19 postseason games this year, he has scored 10 goals and has recorded 14 assists. His plus/minus rating is even.

During the regular season, he scored 29 goals and recorded 52 assists in 81 games played. His plus/minus rating was 30. If Mika Zibanejad is held without a point for the third consecutive game, the odds are the Tampa Bay Lightning are advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third consecutive year at Amile Arena in Tampa Bay, Florida, and the New York Rangers will be hitting the golf course.

If not, then it is very possible a Game 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York is possible for Tuesday night then
