Why the favorite Rangers will cover the spread

The New York Rangers (-1.5) have won their last four home games in the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. New York has won three-of-the-last four against the spread line at home.

The Rangers appear more comfortable at home and their star players like Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin, and Adam Fox seem to play their best in the Garden.

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin has played very well in this series for the Rangers. Whether they are high-quality chances or not by the Carolina Hurricanes is another story in itself, but the New York Rangers have been a little bit better defending. 

Why the underdog Hurricanes will cover the spread

The Carolina Hurricanes (+1.5) are 0-4 on the road this postseason and feel due for a postseason road win sooner rather than later.

Why Rangers vs. Hurricanes will go Over 5.5 Total Goals

The over 5.5 goals total in this series has yet to hit. There is offensive talent on both sides to make it happen. Sebastian Aho has been the only one in this series for Carolina that has made an impact scoring and Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen need to follow suit.

The New York Rangers star players have finally awoken from their naps in this series and will look to have a big Game 4 impact as well. 

Why Rangers vs. Hurricanes will stay Under 5.5 Total Goals

The scoring chances for both teams in this series have not been very dangerous. Antti Raanta and Igor Shesterkin continue to make respective saves for their hockey teams and give them quality chances to win. The under has hit in all three games of this series so far and it continues to be a trend in this series.

If Teuvo Teravainen shows up in the score sheet in Game 4, it is very possible that the Carolina Hurricanes have a commanding 3-1 series lead heading back home for Game 5 in Raleigh, North Carolina, at PNC Bank Arena on Thursday night.
