Bet the Birthday Boy: Should You Bet on MLB Players Who Were Born on June 29?

Do birthdays bring good luck? Let's see what the trends have to say.

Dimers.com writer Tony Bellissimo tracks down all the active Major League Baseball players who have birthdays today, June 29, 2022, and analyzes whether betting them on this special day is a good idea or not.

MLB Birthdays for Wednesday June 29, 2022

Bobby Dalbec

Selected by the Red Sox in the 4th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Bobby Dalbec had a pretty impressive resume coming into this season after a brief stint in the majors in 2020 and his first full year in 2021. In 156 games combined, he belted 33 homers and drove in 94 runs.

Dalbec turns 27 on Wednesday but still looking to turn his 2022 campaign around. He’s hitting .207 with 5 homers and 18 RBIs. With the Red Sox facing Blue Jays' Alex Manoah is likely to put a damper on Dalbec’s special day. Last year on his birthday, he went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Nick Senzel

Nick Senzel entered the majors as a highly touted second-overall pick (2016) after starring at the University of Tennessee. The Cincinnati outfielder turns 27 Wednesday and so far has been a big disappointment. After hitting a dozen homers in 104 games as a rookie in 2019, he’s jogged the bases only 4 times in 106 games since.

He has one homer and 12 RBIs this season and will try to make some birthday wishes come true at Wrigley Field when the Reds take on Cubs’ southpaw Justin Steele. Check the wind speed and direction before banking on Senzel to boost your bankroll.

Jose Miranda

Another high selection in the 2016 draft, Minnesota’s Jose Miranda, celebrates a birthday on Wednesday. The former second-round pick turns 24 and could be in the Twins’ lineup to take some cuts against Cleveland’s Cal Quantrill.

Miranda has shown some positive signs as a rookie, smacking 5 homers with 17 RBIs in 135 at-bats, but needs better plate discipline as he evolves. He’s drawn only 6 walks while striking out 31 times.

Emmanuel Rivera

After a cup of coffee in the majors last year, Kansas City’s Emmanuel Rivera is getting a chance to show what he can do in the show.

Drafted in the 19th round in 2015, the Puerto Rico native turns 25 on Wednesday and will look to celebrate with a big performance for the Royals against the visiting Rangers and Dave Dunning. Rivera is only batting .199 but 12 of his 28 hits are for extra bases including 4 homers to go with 16 RBIs.

Tanner Houck

A first-round pick in 2017, Tanner Houck might be finding his niche as Boston’s recently appointed closer. Houck is already 4-3 with 7 saves in 19 appearances this season with a 3.42 ERA heading into tonight’s 26th-birthday matchup between the Red Sox and the Blue Jays.

He’s closed out 5 Red Sox’s victories since June 10 and has allowed just one earned run over his last 12 outings. Since he is not vaccinated against Covid-19, Houck must wait until the Red Sox return from Canada to make an impact.
