Best NBA Betting Picks and Parlay Today - Friday, January 6, 2023

A monster 11-game slate is upon us in the NBA for Friday, January 6, and as always, we're delivering our NBA predictions with the help of our basketball predictions model that we affectionately call DimersBOT. For Friday's NBA Best Bets, we'll be covering the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets vs. Milwaukee Bucks. Best NBA Bets Today

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Indiana Pacers, 7:00PM ET

Two teams with very similar records converge in Indianapolis on Friday night with the Pacers (21-18) taking on the Blazers (19-18) in a game where defense may be an afterthought.

For all of Indiana's pre-season pessimism, they've found some diamonds in the rough to propel them to an above .500 record, powered by guys like Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Myles Turner, as well as a unit of exciting youngsters.

They've won four of their last five games, only going down to the Sixers in their last game that needed to be decided in overtime. The Pacers offense has been insane, averaging 128.6 points scored per game during that span.

Portland will make the trip east a little banged up with starters Jermi Grant and Jusuf Nurkic under injury and illness clouds. Nurkic is likely to play, but Grant's status will be clearer closer to tip. 

Ultimately this is a matchup between two high-powered offenses with pure scorers on both squads who have been both scoring at a higher clip in recent times than their overall season averages. We're expecting a game that is fast-paced with the points flowing heavily.

Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers, 8:00PM ET

The Bulls have lost 12 straight games against the 76ers in games Joel Embiid has featured for Philadelphia but that goes straight out the window tonight with Chicago facing a prospect of an Embiid-less Sixers with the big man sidelined for this tilt with a foot injury. 

While the 76ers have been able to find some offense in recent games without their marquee man (scoring 129 and 133 points respectively in their previous two matchups where Embiid has not played), don't expect huge numbers to be put up here with both teams ranking in the bottom ten in the league for pace of play over their past ten games.

Chicago are coming off their best win of the year, breaking Brooklyn's streak by keeping them down to 112 points (in today's NBA, that is a big achievement). The Bulls should now have the recipe to replicate another competitive performance against the Sixers. With Embiid out, and a slow pace possible, this line feels just a little too high for the men in red.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Milwaukee Bucks, 8:00PM ET

The Hornets are an unmitigated dumpster fire right now. A bad offense and an even worse defense is never a good combination and things could get ugly tonight against a Bucks outfit that will be en eying an easy victory.

While Charlotte's defense has been abhorrent, allowing close to 120 points per game over their last five outings, Milwaukee aren't exactly an electric offense, ranking 25th in the league for points per game at 112.5 over their last 15 games.

The total is set high here because of how awful the Hornets have been on the defensive end, but with a bottom-five offense, coming up against Milwaukee who are a top-ten defense, there's just too many things working against the Over on this one.

TREND: We've also identified an NBA trend for Charlotte's Mason Plumlee that's worth consideration. Plumlee has scored more than 9.5 points in 8 of his last 10 appearances.
