Best MLB Bets Today

Cubs vs. Reds, 6:40PM ET

The Cubs and Reds are back from the Field of Dreams game in Iowa and in more familiar surroundings in Cincinnati for the weekend, hopefully to deliver a few more dingers than what we saw on Thursday night.

Conditions are ripe for a high scoring game with hot weather predicted during game time, and so is the starting pitcher matchup with Adrian Sampson (0-3, 3.83 ERA) looking like a man who could be dealt some punishment by the Reds hitters. Sampson has given up multiple run starts in all but one of his eight starts on the mound this year for the Cubs and could find it hard to keep up with Graham Ashcraft on the opposite side who has been stifling over his past few games with a 1.74 ERA. Look for the Cincinnati run offense to start to get things going here tonight.

Padres vs. Nationals, 7:05PM ET

Juan Soto's homecoming to Washington went off without a hitch last night with San Diego winning in dominant fashion. The Padres were able to really dismantle the bullpen with nine of their 10 runs scored on the evening coming once starting Nats pitcher Cory Abbott was taken out. Tonight it's hard to see the Nationals putting up any resistance at all with the hapless Aníbal Sánchez (0-5, 7.56 ERA) taking to the bump for the lowly Nats. It's a pretty simple equation here, but with a decimated batting lineup and lousy pitching, the better teams are going to embarrass Washington for the rest of the season. DimersBOT loves the San Diego run line, giving it a 55% chance of hitting, but if you want some decent odds, you need to take the alt. run line and bump it up a little.

Yankees vs. Red Sox, 7:10PM ET

Curse of the Gallo? Yankees fans are getting a little concerned for their team since the trade deadline. They've lost 8 of their last 9 games since that night, including an extra innings loss to open up their weekend series at Fenway Park against the Red Sox last night. Is it just a blip, or something much deeper? We'll have to wait and see, but for now, we know how capable this team is and we know what they can do - so we're going to enjoy the odds we're getting right now for a matchup such as this.
