Phillies vs. Reds, 6:40PM ET

For those of our readers that are my age, you'll remember that once upon a time Tom Cruise was married to Nicole Kidman. Eventually they divorced and a new meme was born as Kidman left the office of her divorce lawyer looking like the weight of the world had been lifted off her shoulders; that she was finally free.

Where am I going with this obscure early 2000s reference, you might ask? Well, after a weekend in which the Phillies had to face Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom and Chris Bassitt in three consecutive nights, scoring just two runs in total across 27 innings, the Phillies will finally get the chance to blow the shackles off with a new series against the Reds who will be serving up the atrocious Mike Minor (1-9, 6.24 ERA) on the mound. THE PHILLIES ARE FREE.

While the Phillies hitters should be able to run up the scoring total and get back in form, the Reds should have a decent chance of contributing also with Noah Syndergaard (6-8, 3.96 ERA) on the bump. He hasn't been especially troublesome for hitters this year, giving up multiple run starts to the opposition in five of his last six outings. We're expecting runs.

Padres vs. Marlins, 6:40PM ET

We've got one of the starting pitcher's duels of the season so far in this one with Sandy Alcantara (10-5, 2.01 ERA) on the mound for the Marlins, against Joe Musgrove (8-5, 2.91 ERA) for the Padres. Understandably, the total has been set at 6.5, buuuut our DimersBOT says that's a total we want to take on. While both guys have been absolute standouts on the bump over the course of the year, both guys have also had a tough month with both aces giving up more runs over their past four starts than at any other point of the season (Alcantara has given up 11 ER in last four, Musgrove has given up 13 ER). A similar output will spell disaster for under bettors tonight.

Cubs vs. Nationals, 7:05PM ET

We end our Monday picks article with yet another over with two lousy run defenses and two leaky pitchers starting things off. To get things going it'll be Josiah Gray (7-8, 4.81 ERA) to the mound vs. Marcus Stroman (3-5, 4.20 ERA), but this goes far beyond the starting pitcher matchup with both teams ranked in the bottom 5 of the MLB for opponent runs per game (in fact, the Nats are dead last). This is simply a perfect storm and getting an even 8 on the total feels like a gift.
