Padres vs. Nationals, 7:05PM ET

Soto returns to his old home in Washington after just over a week since the his trade to San Diego in what promises to be an interesting homecoming. After a string of low scoring games out of the trade deadline - a deadline in which the star attraction was the Padres hitting lineup - the Friars have sprung back to life with two monster games on the scoring total, notching a combined 20 runs over their last two outings against the Giants. There's no doubt that San Diego will be featuring in the postseason, and there is cause for optimism among fans if the last two nights are anything to go by.

They will come up against a Nats team who they can take credit for dismantling after nabbing both Juan Soto and Josh Bell. There's every chance that they could find something here and put up a resistance, but we're locking in on the total here with the Padres in good hitting form all of a sudden and Cory Abbott (0-1, 5.68 ERA) on the mound for Washington.

Guardians vs. Blue Jays, 7:07PM ET

Cleveland are rolling and it might just be time that people started to sit up and take notice. The Guards are rolling on a 5-game winning streak - two of those against the might of the Astros - and now find themselves 1.5 games ahead at the top of the AL Central standings. They go into tonight's opener against the Blue Jays as the outsiders, but that won't disrupt this team of young upstarts. The Blue Jays will be sending out José Berríos (8-4, 5.19 ERA) to the mound; a man who gives up a lot of runs, including home runs with 15 of his last 18 starts allowing a home run to the opposition. This just screams an upset.

Yankees vs. Red Sox, 7:10PM ET

Two old foes meet again for the weekend and if their past encounters this season are anything to go by, expect more fireworks again at Fenway Park tonight. The last 7 games between these two have gone over the run total, and it's hard to see anything changing for tonight's series opener with Nathan Eovaldi (5-3, 4.23 ERA) starting for Boston, up against Domingo Germán (1-2, 5.09 ERA) for the Yankees. They're not exactly sending out their best and we wouldn't be surprised to see either team make it to 10 runs just on their own; that's happened four of the last six times.
