Arizona Cardinals 2022 Win Total Prediction, Computer Picks and Super Bowl Odds

The 2022 NFL season is firmly on the horizon and over the coming weeks the Dimers crew will break down the chances of each and every team, all vying for Super Bowl 57 glory in Phoenix come February.

Let's take a look at the key factors to consider when betting on the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.

The story the last two NFL seasons has been essentially the same for the Cardinals - get off to a roaring start, flirt with attention as Super Bowl contenders and then drop off rapidly down the stretch, not so coincidentally coinciding with wear-and-tear hamstring injuries for star QB Kyler Murray.

Arizona Cardinals Win Total Prediction, Computer Picks and Super Bowl Odds

Arizona Cardinals

  • 2021 Record: 11-6, 2nd in the NFC West (eliminated in NFC Wild Card by Los Angeles Rams)
  • 2021 ATS: 10-8
  • Key off-season losses: Christian Kirk, WR; Chase Edmonds, RB; Chandler Jones, LB
  • Key off-season addition: Marquise Brown, WR

Arizona Cardinals 2022 Win Total - 8.5

To help Kyler Murray, who signed a massive contract extension during the offseason, the Cardinals made a major upgrade at receiver, trading for the Baltimore Ravens’ Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown after the Jacksonville Jaguars made Christian Kirk the fourth-highest paid receiver in the NFL in free agency.

Getting out to a fast start this year won’t be easy with star receiver DeAndre Hopkins suspended for the first six games for a PED violation, but having Brown in the mix should ease the burden on Murray quite a bit.

If Arizona can survive its first six games — the first three against the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams in particular — and go 3-3, finishing with at least nine wins is certainly in the realm of possibility as Hopkins is going to bring some energy to the group when he returns.

DimersBOT: In our model's 10,000 simulations of the upcoming NFL season, the Cardinals averaged 8.77 wins per year. This is going to be a tight one without a doubt, but we'd lean towards the Over.

Arizona Cardinals X-Factor - J.J. Watt, DE

J.J. Watt is one of the most dominant and well-liked defensive linemen in the NFL — when healthy, which has not been the prevailing status through his otherwise Hall-of-Fame career.

After missing 11 games in 2017, eight games in 2019 and 10 games last year before making a what-proved-to-be-meaningless return for the Wild Card Game, the Cardinals can’t afford him to take another trip to the IR, especially with the loss of bookend pass-rusher Chandler Jones.

Even in their winning days in 2021, the Cardinals’ defense was suspect against the run, making it all the more vital Watt shows up every week with his A-game and $14-million salary in tow.

Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl 57 Chances

While the Cardinals are a team that looks to have everything it needs to make a deep postseason run, it's just a little hard to trust that they can get the job done late in the year. Kliff Kingsbury is yet to prove that he has what it takes to bring the best out of his group in big games, and Murray still makes far too many mistakes for a big-time quarterback.

DimersBOT: Our model only gives Arizona a 2.5% chance of winning the Super Bowl and that means that this is a bet you're probably going to want to stay away from.
