PGA Tour: American Express 2022 Golf Picks and Betting Odds
The fresh season of golf continues this week with the 2021-22 American Express on Thursday morning held at three different courses in La Quinta, CA. As with every event on the golf schedule, we've got three outright winner picks, ranging from one of the favorites to some mega value!
After picking Hideki Matsuyama to win the Sony Open last week at +2000 odds, we're feeling good about going again with this week's picks.
We've gone through this week's AmEx Golf Tournament and found three guys that we like to win this week's golf tournament, varying from one of the top favorites, who still represents good value, down to some nice value on a couple of stars that look set for big weeks at longer odds! We also show you the best sportsbook promos to play.
With crowds back and a host of big names out there, we're set for an awesome four days of golf in Cali ... and betting! As we do each and every tournament, we provide you with our best golf picks for outright winner, as well as some in-play picks throughout.
Remember this week's tournament will take on a unique look when you consider this, taken from PGA.com:
The Stadium Course, Nicklaus Tournament Course and La Quinta Country Club will all be used once during the first 54 holes. The top 65 and ties after 54 holes will play the Stadium Course again on Sunday to determine the winner.
Let's get into our best bets for this week ⬇️
Golf Picks: 2022 American Express
Top Pick
Tony Finau is back on the TOUR this week as he looks to improve on his fourth-placed finish last season.
Finau has had a reasonably slow start to the 2021-22 season (expect for his T7 at the Hero World Challenge) but will be eyeing of this tournament as a chance to settle in and start competing week-to-week.
The world number 17 finally got the monkey off his back last season, winning for the first time in 5 years at the Northern Trust.
In 27 events last season, Finau had a ridiculous 22 made cuts, 16 Top-25s and 8 Top-10s. If he continues that form this season with a win behind him, we aren't going to see him at +2000 in fields like this too often. Take it while you can.
Value Pick
Now, Tony Finau may have finished 4th here last year, but this guy actually won the tournament. And we're getting big odds on him to do it again!
After a terrible +15 (and Thursday WD) effort in the 2020 AmEX, Si-Woo came out firing last year to hold off a fast-finishing Patrick Cantlay, who of course was the eventual FedEx Cup champion.
Si-Woo posted an uber-impressive 8-under on the final day of play after starting the day in a tie for the lead with the above-mentioned Tony Finau.
Si-Woo Kim wins the 2021 American Express👇
Dark Horse
Here we have 34-year-old Brian Harman, who absolutely loves playing this tournament.
Harman (who is likely to feature in my Masters bets this season) has finished at T21 or better in five of six attempts here, including a T8 finish last year.
The lefty made 24 of 28 cuts last season, finishing in the Top-10 five times, and looks primed to take another big step in 2022.
And just quietly, he is my One & Done pick this week! There's still time to get involved with our season-long PGA picks contest here.
