The Five Best Plus-Money NFL Draft Bets You Can Make

Bet #1: Hendon Hooker Draft Pick Over 31.5 (+125)

The quarterback picture in the 2023 NFL Draft is cloudy, to say the least. There are plenty of teams selecting in the Top 10 picks that need quarterbacks, and the consensus top four of Bryce Young, Will Levis, Anthony Richardson and CJ Stroud makes for a strong class, even if one is likely to fall into the mid-to-late first round.

That leaves Tennessee star Hendon Hooker, who has been rumored to be selected anywhere from the 20s to the mid-second round. Hooker had a great season last year, but he is a 25-year-old prospect coming off a torn ACL. That isn't the type of prospect we've seen playoff caliber NFL teams spend a first round pick on. It's more likely one of the big four QBs falls into the late first, and Hooker ends up selected in the 2nd round.

Bet #2: Anthony Richardson Draft Pick Under 4.5 (+220)

Speaking of quarterbacks, Florida QB Anthony Richardson has been the biggest riser of the pre-draft process this season. After a so-so year for the Gators, Richardson is expected to be selected in the top 10 on Thursday night. His athleticism and speed rank off the charts at the quarterback position, and he has arm strength for days. The only comparison physically is Cam Newton, which has NFL teams salivating.

With two teams in the top four rumored to be taking a quarterback (the Panthers are expected to take Bryce Young and the Colts will likely take a QB with the 4th pick), that gives us plenty of chances for Richardson to rise into the top four. The Texans could be a landing spot at #2, and the latest rumors are that Seattle could be leaning Richardson with the 5th pick, meaning if another team wants to gamble on Richardson, they will need to trade into the top four to beat Seattle to the punch.

Bet #3: Jaxon Smith-Njigba - 2nd Wide Receiver Selected (+330)

According to the NFL Mock Draft database, four wide receivers are ranked in the top 32 on consensus draft boards this year. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is projected to be the first one selected off the board, but Zay Flowers, Jordan Addison and Quentin Johnson are all first round-caliber talents at the position as well.

In previous seasons, wide receiver has been one of the most volatile positions as the draft unfolds. Teams often have preferences they keep internal until draft night, and the favorite sometimes slides. Last year, Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams was the fourth receiver selected when many had him rated highest at the position. The Falcons surprised some by taking USC WR Drake London. With lots of competition at the position, we could see a similar outcome happening to Smith-Njigba Thursday night.

Bet #4: Stetson Bennett Round Drafted - Round 7 (+350)

Okay, it's time to get freaky here. Guessing the right round a player will be selected is a bit like throwing a dart, but there's reason to believe Bennett could be taken in the 7th round of the NFL Draft. When the college football season ended, most would have expected Bennett to be a 4th or 5th round pick given his success as a two-time national champion at Georgia. But the latest rumors are that teams are concerned with Bennett's character and decision making, and that he is sliding on boards.

That makes his 7th round prop extremely valuable at +350 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. Bennett has the talent of a sure-fire pick, and if he slides all the way to the final round, we have a hard time seeing every team in the NFL passing up on Bennett for the price of a 7th round pick. It's worth a shot.

Bet #5: Detroit Lions' First Pick Position Drafted: Quarterback (+1000)

Our final favorite NFL Draft prop bet may sound surprising, but we think there's some value here. The Detroit Lions made headlines this week when their wide receiver room was ravaged by gambling suspensions. The Lions own the 6th pick in the first round, and likely have their eyes set on two defensive prospects - Will Anderson and Jalen Carter. There's only one problem. Anderson is likely to be gone by #6, and the buzz around the Lions pre-draft interviews as that they aren't comfortable with Carter.

That leaves Detroit in an interesting spot for a franchise expected to take a large step forward. Nobody expects the Lions to be selecting in the top 10 picks again next season, and in a quarterback-heavy draft, it's likely at least one of the four big four quarterbacks will be available at #6. The Lions' front office doesn't see Jared Goff as the future at the position, and this could be their last chance to get a major upgrade before the franchise becomes a playoff contender.
