Betting Updates on MVP, OPOTY, DPOTY and Other Player Awards
Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Josh Allen remains the favorite at +325, with his odds not moving since last week but Patrick Mahomes’ odds have moved from +700 to +500, with the Chiefs man now the second-most likely to win and grab his first MVP since 2018.
Despite a loss, we’ve seen Lamar Jackson move from +700 to +600, while Jalen Hurts's odds have shortened from +700 to +650. Interestingly the biggest mover has been Tua Tagovailoa, who was +2000 to win the award before yet another horrific concussive episode, which has seen him slide to +6600.
We know that this is pretty much always a QB award now, but it’s worth noting that Cooper Kupp at +10000 is the favorite non-QB to win it.
Offensive Player of the Year (OPOTY)
Kupp is +650 to win the Offensive Player of the Year award. He's closely followed by Lamar Jackson and Justin Jefferson at +700. Last week, Jefferson was as big as +1200 with some books but his performance against the Saints, which saw him hitting the Griddy in London, has seen that smashed.
Nick Chubb is a fast riser at +1200, now level with Stefon Diggs, to show that perhaps running backs do matter after all.
Defensive Player of the Year (DPOTY)
Micah Parsons looks most likely at +275, with former rival at the top of the market, Myles Garrett now slipping to +1200, potentially due to that off-field driving incident.
Nick Bosa has moved from +1400 to +1000, but the fastest riser has been Rashan Gary who is now second favorite at +950. The Packers man picked up two sacks on Sunday and is fast becoming the star that anybody who watched him play in Michigan believed he could be.
Offensive Rookie of the Year (OROY)
Another strong performance from Chris Olave which saw him haul in his first NFL touchdown has made him the +500 favorite, having been +700 last week. Drake London moves from first to second at +600.
Beyond them it’s been big weeks for Dameon Pierce and Kenny Pickett who are now tied for third favorite at +800. Pickett is now the starter in Pittsburgh and we know they love a quarterback when deciding this award. Meanwhile, Pierce added another 131 yards on the ground and a touchdown against the Chargers.
Romeo Doubs is now +900 after grabbing another touchdown from Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. Elsewhere it’s worth flagging that the Patriots’ Bailey Zappe is +7500 after performing well having entered the defeat to the Packers after Brian Hoyer’s injury. Brian Robinson Jr. is also likely to be activated this week and currently sits as ninth favorite at +2000.
Defensive Rookie of the Year (DROY)
Last week we said Devin Lloyd was hot on the heels of Hutchinson and he’s now overtaken the Michigan man, becoming the +300 favorite, while Hutch slips to +600. Lloyd’s teammate Travon Walker sits at +800.
Hutchinson is the favorite at +300, down from +250 last week but Devin Lloyd is coming in hot. He leads the linebacker position with two picks and four pass breakups and has been one of the core reasons in the defensive improvement of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fourth favorite is currently Chiefs edge rusher George Karlaftis. The Greek was picked 30th overall and is available to grab at +1200.
Coach of the Year (COTY)
In the past three weeks Nick Sirianni has moved from +900, to +400, and now to +175 to win this award, and it really feels like his to lose. Second favorites are Doug Pederson and Mike McDaniel on +800 with Kevin O’Connell in the distance at +1600.
Comeback Player of the Year (CPOY)
The front runner for this award continues to be Saquon Barkley, who had another big day for the Giants, even playing QB at wildcat when Tyrod Taylor went down. If he stays healthy then it’ll take something special for the +150 favorite to not win this award.
There are arguments that Christian McCaffrey (+1000) and Derrick Henry (+1200) are in the running but it’s not looking good. If you fancy a longshot then JK Dobbins is +2000 and was brilliant last week. With Brian Robinson Jr. returning from being shot in the leg this week, it raises the question of whether a rookie can really win comeback of the year, and what the terminology of the award actually means. Expect your book to be offering odds on him if he has a big Sunday against the Titans though.
