2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix: Value to be Found in Past Champion Daniel Ricciardo
The most coveted Formula 1 race of the season takes place this weekend in Monaco. With corners named ‘Swimming Pool’ and ‘Casino’, this race is all about money, glamour and speed.
Dimers.com F1 expert Brad Montagne takes a closer look the best bets in the Monaco Grand Prix.
The narrow street course is very challenging and is simply brutal on transmissions by having the most shifts of any course on the Formula 1 racing calendar. This is not a course for cars that excel on straightaways only. This course is all about cornering, braking and acceleration, which could mean an end to the recent dominance enjoyed by Team Red Bull, which has some issues going into the 2022 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
It’s worth noting that Red Bull has had heating issues, evidenced by how the red logo on their engine covers turn a darker shade when it’s warm and this darker shade of red has been most noticeable in practice.

As for Ferrari, the team that’s been running neck-and-neck with Red Bull all season, their star driver Charles Leclerc has never even finished the race in Monaco - his hometown - but, despite that, Leclerc is the favorite at +100.
My picks, staying away from the low odds of Red Bull this weekend, and start with Daniel Ricciardo of McLaren, who always performs well at Monaco, with one win there and two more near misses
A $10 bet right now on Ricciardo at 400-to-1 (+40000) would pay about $4,000, and some books are giving even better odds than that.
Not bad, plus he drinks champagne from his shoe when he wins. He calls this a ‘Shoey’, perhaps in honor of the late great Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher.

The Mercedes of George Russell is another good bet to win.
Remember, Monaco doesn’t have a lot of passing but it does have a lot of incidents due to the narrowness of the track.
It should be very interesting this year because the new cars are bouncing all over the place creating a lot of action and, of course, fun betting.
Grab a glass of champagne and enjoy the race. It doesn’t get any better than this in motor sports!
