2021 American Express Tournament: Preview, picks and bets

The TOUR heads to the PGA West Stadium Course this week, with a huge field lining up to compete in the 2021 American Express.

More of the top players in the world are returning this week (including some in Abu Dhabi) as we enter the West Coast Swing.

Data-led probabilities for the winner, Top 10 and Top 20.

The favorite this week (Patrick Cantlay) sits at around 12/1 with most books, meaning there's plenty of value on the board for us to take a swing at!

Looking ahead to our picks for the week now, weโ€™ve once again gone with three outright winner plays, with one guy in particular looking way overs!

๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ Outright winner picks

๐Ÿ†  Top Pick:

Patrick Reed (+1600 or 16/1)

Bet $10, win $160

Reed may not be the most popular guy on the Tour, but that often means he presents good value with a lot fans against betting on him as they don't want to root for the 2018 Masters champion.

He's been in good form over the past few months without getting over the line for a win, but he's probably due, making him our top pick for the 2021 American Express.

His finishes since the BMW Championship (most recent tournament listed first) are as follows: T21, T3, T10 (Masters), T14, T3, T13 (US Open), T8.

Check out the highlights from his most recent here๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ’ฐ Value Bet:

Matthew Wolff (+2500 or 25/1)

Bet $10, win $250

The 21-year-old (!!) Matthew Wolff has one win on the TOUR so far and will likely be eyeing off the 2021 season as one to add to that with multiple victories.

Wolff finished 2nd at the US Open and T4 at the PGA Champioship in 2020, showing that he has what it takes to compete with the absolute upper-echelon of golf.

This is set to be his first competitive hit out since the turn of the calendar year, but there's no reason the young star shouldn't come out firing out of the gate.

BONUS PICK: Another guy we like this week is Abe Ancer who was actually a value bet at last week's Sony Open! He came second at this tournament last year and should get his first PGA win some time in 2021!

Check out the highlights from Wolff's 2019 win at the 3M Open below ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ”ฎ Dark Horse:

Cameron Champ (+4000 or 40/1)

Bet $10, win $400

Big hitter Cameron Champ comes into this week at crazy 40/1 odds that we believe should be around the 25 or 30/1 mark.

The 25-year-old won PGA events in both 2018 and 2019, before missing out on a win last calendar year.

Champ's second and most recent win came at the 2019 Safeway Open, with the highlights below ๐Ÿ‘‡

2021 dark horse record:

Marc Leishman @ Sony Open - T4
Sungjae Im @ Sentry TOC - T5

As you can see, our first two dark horse picks of 2021 had great tournaments, paying out those that bet them for Top-5 and Top-10!
