5. The Weeknd
We're kicking off this list with last year's performance that came from one of the biggest pop stars in the world, with The Weeknd taking center stage in Tampa Bay last season.
Making his way through a tunnel of mirrors and entering the field with hundreds of dancers around him, The Weeknd made sure that there was plenty of meme opportunities from this performance, as well putting on a vocal show for the ages.
4. U2
With Super Bowl XXXVI taking place just months after 9/11, there was a need for some unity and reverence from the performers, with Bono and his band providing just that.
U2 performed Beautiful Day, MLK and Where The Streets Have No Name, producing one of the greatest halftime shows ever by a rock band.
3. Prince
The New York Times described Prince's 2007 halftime show as one that will "surely go down as one of the most thrilling halftime shows ever; certainly the most unpredictable, and perhaps the best."
Closing out with a performance of Purple Rain, Prince was at his absolute best with this one, setting the standard for shows to come in the following years.
2. Beyonce / Destiny's Child
The 2013 Super Bowl halftime show provided the perfect opportunity for Beyonce to cement herself as one of the greatest ever, and boy did she deliver.
Beyonce brought her the other two members of her former band, Destiny's Child, as she performed a medley of nine of her/their biggest hits, including Run The World (Girls), Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) and Halo.
1. Michael Jackson
The greatest ever all-round performance at a Super Bowl halftime show came from the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.
