The Masters Golf 2023 Concession Menu Inflation Rate
The unbelievably cheap food and drink prices at The Masters are almost as famous as Amen Corner and the green jacket.
Throughout the four day golf event at Augusta National in Georgia, spectators (or “patrons” as the organizers refer to them) can treat themselves to items such as the iconic pimento cheese sandwich for just $1.50, while a fruit bowl will set you back $2 and a beer $5.
Dimers.com wanted to see how these prices had changed over the years, so compared the menu prices in 2012 versus 2022. And while domestic beer had shot up by $2 (apparently due to supply chain issues), other rises were much more modest.

How does The Masters food compare to common purchases?
This got us thinking, given the recent inflation we’ve been living through, what would be the cost of common purchases today if prices had only risen by the Masters concession menu inflation rate over the last 10 years?
So, we took this one step further and calculated the inflation rate over this 10 year period, based on a typical order of a pimento cheese sandwich, a chicken biscuit, water and a coffee.
In 2012 this order would have cost $5, while in 2022 this would have set you back $6, which equates to an annualized inflation rate of 1.84%.
Based on that, we crunched some more numbers and it’s safe to say that we would all feel a lot richer if this 1.84% inflation rate had been applied across all common purchases over the past 10 years.
For a start, the average new home would set you back a mere $350,640, netting an enormous saving of $192,960 versus today’s average price of $543,600.
Students would save $3,341 on a year’s college tuition, costing $29,428 compared to $32,769.
Meanwhile, huge savings are to be had when it comes to Super Bowl tickets, with the average ticket price being $7,429 cheaper than 2022’s price of $8,869.
Less savings are to be had when it comes to gas, due to prices spiking back in 2012. A gallon back then would have set you back $3.62, and you would now be saving $0.15 per gallon versus today’s prices.
But when it comes to Masters tickets, the savings aren’t bad. The average patron would save $462 on the resale market, with tickets costing $1,606 instead of 2022’s average of $2,068.
